Mindful-Mastery Services

Populations

Dr. Fielding treats human beings, not disorders; adults and adolescents struggling with difficult emotions and the effects of stressful life experiences. This approach is transdiagnositic. The target of treatment is the emotion dysregulation that underlies many mental health diagnoses, such as:

  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
  • Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD)
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)
  • Dysthymic Disorder
  • Bipolar Disorders (BP)
  • Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)

Targets of Treatment

Mindfulness skills have been shown to improve emotion regulation. Whether you are experiencing significant emotion dys-regulation warranting a mental health diagnosis, or simply experiencing a particularly stressful life transition, skill building has been found effective. Research has shown that healthy individuals with higher levels of trait mindfulness can more easily regulate their emotions.

Treatment

Mindful-Mastery is the integration of the common elements of the Mindfulness-Based Empirically Supported Treatments. These treatments include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Dialectical and Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
  • Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
  • Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

Consultation, Training and Supervision

Dr. Fielding is also employed by the UCLA Department of Psychology's Clinic as Psychologist Supervisor to the Ph.D. candidates who provide DBT and/or ACT treatments to their clients. She is available for consultation and/or supervision to individuals, groups, programs, and training facilities wishing to increase their understanding and application of the mindfulness-based interventions.
